Setting up your Device
Setting up your device for a Nemographia Memoir interview is straightforward.
We use the Riverside App which uses your devices microphone and camera to get the highest quality recording.
Follow these clear steps to ensure a smooth recording process:
Use the best device:
Use the best device you have or borrow one with a good camera and microphone. Most newer devices have good enough built cameras and microphones.
Turn off internet on other devices:
This ensures that the full connection is available for the interview.
Switch off Notifications and enable Do Not Disturb mode:
Silence distractions by turning off notifications on your chosen device to maintain focus.
Mac
Go to Top Menu Bar > Control Centre > Focus > Do Not Disturb, toggle it on for the session duration. Remember to switch it off after the interview has ended and the recording is uploaded.
PC
Go to Settings > System > Focus Assist, select "Alarms only" to block all notifications and most alerts.
Click the Focus Assist toggle to on to activate it immediately for your session.
To ensure alarms are silenced, go to Settings > System > Sound > Volume mixer, and mute the “System Sounds” or specific alarm app volumes manually during the session.
Close all other Apps and Windows:
Close all other apps and windows on your device and close all other tabs on your browser: This frees up the system to concentrate all resources on the video streaming and recording process, ensuring a smoother experience and quicker upload time for the finished video.
Join Interview Recording Session:
We record the interview using the Riverside platform, this requires you to use the Google Chrome or Microsoft Brave Browser to access the internet and join the interview.

Alternatively, if you are using a mobile or tablet, you can download the Riverside App and join the interview there.
We'll send you a unique link via email, open this link on one of the above browsers.
Allow microphone and camera access when prompted (you can turn off video if audio-only).
Follow on-screen instructions to join; no account setup is required-just enter your full name and click Join.
Ensure your device is stable (e.g., on a table) and test audio by speaking briefly when asked.
These steps ensure a high-quality, uninterrupted session.
Remember to close all other open apps, window and browser tabs.
VERY IMPORTANT: After the interview ends you must leave your device on and Riverside open as the recording which is stored on your computer will now be uploaded to the internet for us to access and edit. Keep the Riverside window open until the video is fully uploaded it will show you the progress as a percentage. Its best not to use internet or device for anything else whilst this is happening to ensure a faster upload for the recording.
